Heathwood Hall SC senior Aly Conyers, Stanford junior Clayton Mendez and Springfield College (Mass.) senior Kris Rhim join DyeStat editor Doug Binder for a discussion about current events in the nation's capital, the political discord in the country, issues of race and inequality, and whether athletes at the highest levels of track and field have an obligation to speak out more strongly. Conyers, a Cal signee, marched in the streets of Washington, D.C. last summer during the Black Lives Matter movement. Mendez, who grew up in Chicago, talks about how under-served communities could benefit if pro athletes took more interest in social causes. And Rhim, a Philadelphia native and sports journalist, reacts to the events that led to Wednesday's riot. More videos |
