Taylor Gulley, the men's distance coach at the University of Tulsa, joins DyeStat editor Doug Binder to discuss the cross country program and the upcoming NCAA D1 Cross Country Championships. Tulsa is located just an hour away from Stillwater, Okla., and is one of just three schools that has raced on the 10-kilometer championship layout. Tulsa's program reached a high-water mark in 2019 with a fifth place national finish and returns a core group from that team ready to try and contend for a podium finish. Gulley retraces the growth of the program over the years and the pipeline of talent that has come from Great Britain, Ireland, Canada and elsewhere to create family-type culture. Notable alums included Chris O'Hare, a 2016 Olympian from Scotland, and Marc Scott of England, currently starring for the Nike Bowerman Track Club. The current team is led by Patrick Dever, Scott Beattie, Peter Lynch, Isaac Akers, Cameron Field -- a group that finished 1-2-4-6-7 at the AAC Cross Country Championships in February. More videos |
