National High School Girls Team Rankings 2024 - 10/3Published by
Flower Mound Takes Big Leap Forward To Land At No. 2; Colorado Still Has Five Teams Ranked, But No Longer Bunched At The Top By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor No meet has shaped the girls rankings more than the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic in Irvine, Calif. two weeks ago. Flower Mound of Lewisville, Texas showed what it was made of with an outstanding effort to win the girls sweepstakes title by 20 points over Ventura CA, which also outperformed expectations and moved to No. 3. In recent years, Flower Mound has graduated an all-time great in Natalie Cook and then talented twins Nicole and Samantha Humphries, who are now on the roster at Oregon. At Woodbridge, Alexandra Fox, Ava Cole and Adeline Bennett all ran under 16:30 for three miles. Teammates Liana Cluley-Garza and Keira Primer weren't far behind. Mountain Vista of Colorado still seems rock solid at No. 1, but Flower Mound showed it could be a podium team at Nike Cross Nationals. Bethlehem Central of New York ran impressively at the Bowdoin Park Classic last weekend and has moved up to the No. 4 spot. Given New York's history of success on the national stage, this team is certainly dangerous. Rylee Blade smashed the meet record at Woodbridge by running 15:20.3 and her teammates also performed well enough for the Sharks to occupy No. 5. Holland West Ottawa, led by Helen Sachs, has overtaken Romeo in the state of Michigan, and in the Midwest, by moving up to No. 11. The Panthers put six in the top 11 last week at the Otswego Bulldog Invitational and Sachs covered the 5,000-meter course there in 16:52. Romeo is still close by at No. 14. Roy Griak champion Cardinal Gibbons NC moved up a spot to No. 17 and Chile Pepper XC Festival winner Rogers AR jumped up to No. 19. The Great American XC Festival in North Carolina and the Nike XC Town Twilight Meet could shed even more light on the national picture this weekend. The Top 30
