Boys Regional Rankings - 10/24/2024 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Beckman of Irvine, Calif. will put its top-team-in-California ranking on the line this weekend at the 76th Mt. SAC Invitational presented by Nike in Walnut. After winning the Clovis Invitational on Oct. 12, Beckman took a big leap forward into the national discussion. At Mt. SAC, Beckman will face Martin Luther King, Glendora, Crescenta Valley and Mira Costa in the D1&2 team sweepstakes race. Many teams across the country are in the midst of conference championships and state qualifying meets. That could mean running with everything you got, or packing together jogging it in against weaker competition. Most of the movement in this week's regional update is slight. New York remains a bit volatile with no clear pecking order so far, even after the Manhattan Invitational Eastern States race. Xavier's victory at McQuaid is tentatively holding it at No. 1, but Ithaca and Colonie are starting to look better on paper. The top New York finisher at Van Cortlandt Park was Auburn in 10th place. Christian Brothers Academy, with senior Joe Barrett leading the way with his second straight Eastern States title, dominated at Manhattan with 25 points. Perhaps no team is more dominant than CBA is in its region. In the Southeast, St. Albans of D.C. made its first appearance in the rankings after an eye-catching performance, and victory, at the Virginia XC Showcase. After missing opportunities in previous weeks due to the hurricanes in Florida, Marcelo Mantecon and his Belen Jesuit teammates rolled to a victory at the New World Spectacular in Jacksonville. Six states will hold state championships this weekend, which affect teams such as Sioux Falls Lincoln in South Dakota and St. Johnsbury Academy in Vermont.
