Boys Regional Rankings - 11/21/2024 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Three NXR regionals done, five coming on Saturday and California after that on Nov. 30. In this final regional rankings update of 2024, it's really about analyzing the meets this weekend. There have been some adjustments, mostly small ones. The Southwest regional at Toka Sticks Golf Club may be as loaded as any boys regional, ever. Five of the top 15 teams in the country will go head to head for two automatic spots to NXN and two that must wait for at-large selection. The Southwest is all but certain to send four teams and leave a very good one home. In the South meet at Bear Branch Park, it looks like Southlake Carroll and Austin Vandegrift are the two auto berth favorites. And a better run by Hudson Haley might tip the scale in that state meet rematch to the Vipers. Jesuit of New Orleans beat a good Brother Martin team at the Louisiana state meet on Monday, which included a new meet record for Brady Mullen. The team has just five days to recover and get ready for NXR South, and it's not easy with the travel. Belen Jesuit Prep of Miami blitzed the Florida state meet, again, and seems like a lock to defend its regional title in the Southeast at WakeMed Soccer Complex in North Carolina. Sophomore Marcelo Mantecon just might get the individual win, too. North Carolina champion Marvin Ridge has the inside track on second place. Freshman Rivers Matthews has helped push Blacksburg into the discussion after a strong Virginia state meet. At Bowdoin Park in New York's Hudson Valley, conditions could be slick after the area got some rain this week. The New York State Federation Championships at NXR (official name) could be a carbon copy of last Saturday's NYSPHSAA Championships last Saturday, in which Monroe-Woodbury live up to its early season promise and won the Class A title. The CHAAA champion Xavier could pose a threat on Saturday, but North Rockland and Colonie are most likely next in line. Christian Brothers NJ is the easiest pick of the weekend in the Northeast, where the boys from Lincroft have been dominant for years. This year's Colts team could be very special indeed. Expect a low score. Ridgefield East Lyme of Connecticut and Haddonfield Memorial of New Jersey will be in a spirited scrap for second. SOUTHWEST SOUTH SOUTHEAST NEW YORK NORTHEAST 1.
