High School Regional Rankings Boys XC 2024 - 10/10Published by
Boys Regional Rankings - 10/10/2024 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor This weekend's Clovis Invitational should present a clearer picture of the pecking order in California after the Woodbridge Invitational three weeks ago didn't really settle the issue. It seems far-fetched that the top boys team finished 10th in the Woodbridge sweepstakes race. With three weeks of practices, and a little bit of racing in between, it's time to see what's really cooking in California. Jesuit of Carmichael went north and won Nike Portland XC, which was perhaps the best performance by a California boys team so far. An out-of-state team going to Woodward Park this weekend is Crater of Oregon, the national No. 5 and Northwest No. 1. The Comets are eager to see what they can do on the historic course, led by the 1-2 punch of Josiah Tostenson and Tayvon Kitchen. Meanwhile, farther north, Northwest Nos. 2 and 3 will go head to head again at the Hole In The Wall Invitational in Washington. Coeur d'Alene ID picked up a big win over Jesuit OR last year in this meet and will try to do it again. The Vikings have been great up front with Maximus Cervi-Skinner, Zack Cervi-Skinner and Wyatt Carr leading the way. But they will need to shore up the 4 and 5 spots to beat a Jesuit team that won the Nike Twilight XC Invitational in Marysville, Wash. On the East coast, of course, there is Sunday's Manhattan Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. The Northeast is in flux and two new teams, St. Johnsbury of Vermont and La Salle College HS of Pennsylvania, are in this week's top five. But the Eastern States championship could reveal another mover. The Great American XC Festival mostly confirmed the Southeast rankings, with Belen Jesuit showing dominance once again and Marvin Ridge NC stepping up and affirming its status as a potential NXN qualifier. A pair of Indiana schools, Bloomington North and Columbus North, took advantage of their opportunity at the Nike XC Town Twilight meet in Terre Haute, with strong performances that moved both into the top five of the Midwest rankings.
