Agreed! Before I started I sort of assumed Ostrander would be 2 but then decided using Hofstad as the measuring stick was a reasonable thing to do. Same thing with the Hacker Factor on the boys side.

Great job on the rankings in general as usual. Although I think Allie Ostrander should be #2. She was only 7 seconds ahead of Hofstad, so I understand the thought that she would repeat that margin over her at FLN, putting her a couple seconds in back of Frazier, but I think you have to credit her for actually winning the NXN race if it is close (which it is). I think someone could reasonably justify Ostrander in any spot #1- #3. Oh the shame of not having a true national championship!

Alex moved down a couple of spots not because of anything he did, but because I felt like Grant had to move back up to the top. So that's one spot. And I knew Tanner was primed to win NXN. Alex has had a great year and I think he's got a great chance for top-3 at Foot Locker. But I'm not sure he can out-kick Fisher, Maton ... we'll find out later this week.

I'm really interested in seeing how A. Armstrong does at Foot Locker Nationals. Ranked 16th and gets the big win at FLW with Incredible turn-over at the finish of Mt SAC shows he's in great shape. I think Adam Barnard's gutsy race and Olin Hacker's runner-up finish at NXN showed we are really looking pretty solid with preps across the nation with a big dance Saturday to highlight a great 2014.

Once again, thanks Doug for the research and rankings! Would like to understand your approach to rankings - what is rationale for ranking Ostberg 4th behind 2 runners that have both lost this season, w/ Ostberg undefeated in marquee events (Manhattan Invite, New Englands, FL NE) and easily winning FL NE despite 2 weeks off from injury? Realize your ranking published before NXN (Tanner champ) and FL West (Maton 3rd). Thanks!

Hey just wondering what happened to Mikey Brannigan? I know he had a not so great race at FL Northeast but he still some good performances this year. Shouldn't he at least be on the bubble?
DougB
Hi there. Fair question! I thought for awhile about what to do with Mikey. He will be somewhere on the final top 100 list but his inconsistency over the last month of the season -- 7th at state and 18th at FL NE -- seemed to erase his argument for a top 30 spot and possibly the top 50. I know that seems harsh. Mikey has a lot of talent but it just didn't come together for him in the important races this fall. The one guy who wasn't moving on to either NXN or FL that I kept on the bubble was Tanis Baldwin, who had the unfortunate luck to get food poisoning at the banquet the night before FL South. I think he'd have made it but now we'll never know.

Wondering whether the media attention on Brannigan has put additional expectations and pressure on him. With his known disability, that may not be helpful. Hope that he can become more consistent in indoor / outdoor track. Wish him best of luck.

Fixed! Sorry ... Josh. There was a kid a few years ago named Austin Collins and I keep tripping on that one.
kencollinsfam
Yeah that kid ranked 22nd named Austin Collins, is actually me and my name is Josh not Austin

Tanis Baldwin, one of the Boys pre-race favorites to qualify, tweeted - Just letting everybody know that I won't be running Footlocker later today, I have food poisoning of some sort from dinner last night.
